How weather labels work
We store real numbers — average highs and lows for the race's typical month — and translate them into a simple label so you can scan races quickly. Labels are planning shorthand, not universal truth.
Freezing / icy (below32°F)
Typical race-period conditions may be below 32F. Snow, ice, wind chill, or frozen-trail concerns.
Cold (32°–45°F)
32-44F. Appealing to cold-weather runners but may require layers.
Cool (45°–60°F)
45-59F. Often ideal for many runners.
Mild (60°–70°F)
60-69F. Comfortable for many, but long races may feel warm.
Warm (70°–80°F)
70-79F. May be too warm for heat-averse runners.
Hot (80° and up)
80F and above. High heat burden for many runners.
Point-to-point & multi-climate races
For races where conditions genuinely differ along the course — a desert start and an alpine finish, say — we show weather by route point instead of a single misleading city average.
Personalization is coming
Soon you'll be able to set your own ideal range and “too hot / too cold” thresholds, and we'll show how each race matches your preferences — not just our defaults.
Historical averages are for planning only and are not a forecast. Always check the actual outlook in race week.
