Bemidji is a small regional city served by a small airport (BJI) with limited commercial connections; most runners drive from Minneapolis (~2.5 hrs) or Fargo (~2 hrs). A rental car is essentially required. Hotel rooms in Bemidji are limited — book early, especially since the marathon cap is only 300.

  • prefer large expos

First-timer mistakes

Missing the registration window (the full marathon has sold out; same-day registration is not available and the deadline is the day before). Also underestimating morning chill — temps at the 8:30 AM gun can be in the low 30s°F.
