Montebello is remote — no services in the immediate area. Nearest meaningful lodging/dining hub is Waynesboro (~45 min) or Lexington. A rental car is essential; rideshare is effectively unavailable. Fall foliage season means lodging books quickly.
Montebello Campground is the race hub; some runners camp on-site. Blue Ridge Parkway access is within 3 miles. Fly into CHO or ROA (Roanoke, ~75 min) for more flight options.

Race-trip notes
Montebello is a remote mountain community; base in Waynesboro or Lexington for better lodging and dining options, then drive ~45–60 minutes to the start. Book early — rooms near the Blue Ridge Parkway fill fast in fall foliage season.
About this race
The Mountain Masochist Trail Run (MMTR) is held annually on the first Saturday in November, offering 50-mile, 50K, and 100K distances on a mix of singletrack, gravel forest roads, jeep roads, and brief highway sections. The course showcases stunning fall foliage, passes through the Mount Pleasant National Scenic Area, and demands serious climbing with technical Rocky terrain. Since 2021, the historic point-to-point 50-miler was converted to a loop from Montebello, eliminating the predawn bus ride.
