Point-to-point course

You finish in a different place than you start, so plan for transport back to your car or lodging.

Airport → start: 90 minAirport → finish: 75 min

Point-to-point logistics with race-organized shuttles simplify the course, but a rental car is essential for Hood River–Parkdale travel and relay runners driving to Aqueduct. No rideshare in Parkdale.

Getting around

  • Crew accessAqueduct Aid Station

Only crew access point; drop bags also available here; runners pass through twice.

Hood River has strong lodging, restaurants, and breweries 22 min from the finish. Friday packet pickup at Solera Brewery (adjacent to Red Barn Park) is worth building the itinerary around. Arrive Friday to avoid race-morning stress.

Best for / avoid if

Best for

  • Runners who thrive on technical descent
  • Pacific Northwest trail running fans
  • Runners seeking a well-organized Go Beyond Racing event
  • Runners comfortable with early morning shuttles and alpine starts
  • trail runners
  • mountain scenery seekers
  • those seeking net-downhill courses

Avoid if

  • Your quads aren't trained for 7,200–10,600 ft of descent
  • You need crew access beyond a single midpoint
  • You dislike point-to-point logistics and early-morning shuttles
  • you dislike technical downhills
  • want easy access to large city amenities

First-timer mistakes

Underestimating the descents — the 'net downhill' framing hides serious climbing in the first half and a brutal 2,000 ft final plunge; also missing that bib pickup is NOT at the start line (Red Barn Park or Friday packet pickup only).

Race history

Race-trip notes

Hood River is the obvious base (22 min from Parkdale); book early as the gorge fills up in late June. A rental car is essential — there is no rideshare to Parkdale or Bennett Pass. Friday evening packet pickup at Solera Brewery next to Red Barn Park is the easiest option.

About this race

The Wy'east Wonder 50M and 50K traverse soft-dirt singletrack and doubletrack through Mount Hood National Forest, finishing at Red Barn Park in Parkdale. Despite a 'net downhill' label, serious climbing in the first half and a savage 2,000+ ft final descent on the Oak Ridge Trail make both distances far harder than the profile implies.
